Lucid starts Envoy Medical at buy; PT $2

Lucid Capital Markets initiated coverage of Envoy Medical (NASDAQ: COCH) with a “buy” rating and price target of $2.00. The stock closed at $0.66 on October 9.

Envoy is a hearing health medical-device company developing fully implanted hearing solutions. Its primary product under development is the Acclaim cochlear implant which is seeking FDA PMA approval and launch in 2028. Acclaim has published interim pivotal clinical trial data showing its fully implantable CI is as good as traditional partially-implantable options. Envoy competes with incumbents from Cochlear, Sonova (Advanced Bionics), and Med-El, which dominate a mature, concentrated cochlear implant market. Acclaim carries no external component, leveraging the ear’s natural anatomy rather than a microphone and a fully implantable option may increase penetration (~5% currently) of the severe/profound hearing loss market. Envoy also has the legacy Esteem fully implanted middle-ear implant (FDA approved 2010, ~1,000 units implanted across ~20 sites) and this remains a call option tied to potential Medicare/CMS reclassification.

“Envoy submitted the second of four planned modules in its modular PMA application for the fully implanted Acclaim cochlear implant,” writes Lucid analyst Alex Nowak.

“The second submission follows the first module filed on June 30, 2026. We read this news as in line with our forecasted schedule. The modular pathway lets FDA begin review of completed sections while the 56-patient pivotal trial continues collecting data. Each module gives the company agency feedback before the final submission. With stage 1 clinical data already validating that Acclaim works on par with conventional cochlear implants, the outstanding question is execution on stage 2 and final FDA submission/approval. Based on this, all items are tracking in line with our expectations,” he adds.

“Our $2 price target is based on 8x our 2029 revenue estimate of $42M. We base our multiple on other high-growth MedTech companies that are emerging or just emerged from FDA approval and are actively penetrating their market. Our price target reflects a fully diluted share count. Our price target reflects our expectation of late 2027 / early 2028 FDA approval followed by a market launch in 2028. We see COCH re-rating as the PMA is approved and commercial traction takes hold.”
