Firefly Neuroscience (NASDAQ:AIFF) has announced that Christopher Wilson, Ph.D., has been honored with the prestigious UW Faculty of Engineering Award by the University of Waterloo (UW) for his significant contributions to research and scholarship, particularly his research at UW’s the Institute for Quantum Computing.
Dr. Wilson’s research focuses on superconducting quantum electronics for both applications and basic science. His work unites start-ups, academia, and defense sectors across Canada and internationally. Since the start of his career, he has secured $13 million in research funding from agencies in Canada, the U.S. and Europe.
Over his career, Dr. Wilson has mentored more than 40 researchers, including postdoctoral fellows, Ph.D. students, master’s, and undergraduate students, fostering international collaborations. Among his 100+ refereed publications, 30 are high-impact works co-authored with students or postdocs as lead authors. His recent textbook, Building Quantum Computers (Cambridge University Press in 2024), co-authored with IQC’s Raymond Laflamme and Shayan Majady, is based on their courses on quantum information processing taught at IQC.
In a statement, Greg Lipschitz, executive chairman of Firefly, said, “On behalf of everyone here, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to Dr. Wilson on this amazing achievement. In addition to his outstanding contributions to the advancement of quantum science and technology, Dr. Wilson is a vital member of Firefly’s Advisory Development Board. Most recently, he has been collaborating on an exciting new brain model initiative. We are looking forward to providing more information on that in the near future.”
