Rainhouse spotlights CNN reveal on injection cartridge supply issues impacting weight-loss drug shortages

Rainhouse Manufacturing Canada, a well-established North American CNC machining and manufacturing company, emphasized a recent CNN interview with Dr. Sanjay Gupta, which uncovered the real cause of weight-loss drug shortages: supply issues with plastic injection cartridges.

In the interview, Dr. Gupta, M.D., medical reporter, and writer, pointed out that the shortage in the weight-loss drug market is not necessarily due to the drugs themselves, but rather the plastic injection cartridges, or pens, used to administer drugs such as Ozempic and Mounjaro.

“There are about 14 patented parts that go into this pen,” Dr. Gupta explained. “It’s really these pens that are the issue of the shortage.”

In a statement, Ray Brougham, President and CEO of Rainhouse, said, “We are uniquely positioned to accommodate the distinctive and rapidly growing injection cartridge production needs of the weight-loss drug industry. We have excellent injection molding capacity through one of our partner companies. This is enhanced by our skilled manufacturing team, comprised of CNC machinists, mechanical designers, and technicians, offering a wide range of expertise with a reputation for on-time, on-budget delivery, and a commitment to the highest standards.”

Mr. Brougham highlights that Rainhouse provides innovative precision manufacturing solutions for diverse industries. Utilizing a project-based approach, the company’s CNC machining division has capabilities of up to eight-axis CNC turning and five-axis CNC milling.

Moreover, Mr. Brougham contends that the Rainhouse electronic manufacturing services technicians are certified and specialized in sourcing raw materials and components, populating printed circuit boards, manufacturing and assembling components, as well as testing and quality assurance.
