Paragon 28 (NYSE:FNA) has announced the launch of its SMART 28 Case Management Portal to coordinate patient-specific surgical plans, marking the first major launch of the company’s portfolio of solutions and products that drive foot and ankle treatments through AI. The first model to launch within the case management portal is the SMART Bun-Yo-Matic for bunion correction.

The case management portal enables surgeons to plan cases, coordinate surgery dates, and submit patient imaging. It will also serve as a direct line of communication with Paragon 28’s engineering and sales teams for real-time support, status updates, and surgical planning insights.

Leveraging AI-driven algorithms and statistical shape modeling integrated with surgeon input, SMART Bun-Yo-Matic creates plans tailored to the individual patient. Within ten minutes, the model can export a surgical plan for correction, notifying the user if abnormality is detected, allowing the surgeon to adjust the plan in real-time and export a new surgical plan incorporating their recommended changes. The final surgical plan provides the surgeon with user-specific reference points that allow for additional reproducibility when paired with The Bun-Yo-Matic Lapidus Clamp, which can be used to identify, measure, and hold the planned corrections in place during the procedure.

In a statement, Albert DaCosta, CEO of Paragon 28, said, “We could not be more excited about the launch of our SMART 28 Case Management Portal and SMART Bun-Yo-Matic cleared for weight-bearing CT and X-ray. This marks a tremendous step forward for Paragon 28 and we expect it will make a big impact on the future of foot and ankle surgery. With the SMART Bun-Yo-Matic, surgeons are able to efficiently plan a procedure in 3D and have the ability to precisely implement the plan with full intraoperative control.”
