Vital Therapies (NASDAQ:VTL) has been selected for addition to the NASDAQ biotechnology index, effective prior to the opening on Dec. 18.
Companies in the index must meet eligibility requirements, including minimum market capitalization, and average daily trading volume, among other things.
The NASDAQ biotechnology index is re-ranked annually and forms the basis for a number of Exchange Traded Funds, including the iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF.
