SafeStitch Medical (OTCBB:SFES) is bringing the AMID Stapler, an innovative alternative to manual suturing for inguinal hernia repair, to market in the U.S. with the creation of a nationwide sales team.
“We are ready to hit the ground running by bringing the AMID Stapler into the operating rooms and allowing physicians to have hands on experience with our device,” CEO Jeffrey Spragens said in a statement.
Comprised of 35 direct sales managers, independent representatives and distributors, SafeStitch’s sales team will reach all geographical areas that a have high concentration of hernia surgeries.
The immediate goal is to create brand awareness and adaptation among key opinion leaders and physicians by demonstrating the AMID Stapler’s features and benefits over manual suturing.
“Physicians spoke favorably about the AMID Stapler at the International Hernia Congress, specifically how easy it was to use, and I anticipate the product will be well received and accepted,” Mr. Spragens added.
The company’s new sales team will be led by J.C. Campbell, director of sales of SafeStitch since 2010. The sales team is currently taking orders for the AMID Stapler and product is available for immediate shipment.
