Theratechnologies CEO retires; Amorfix’s steps down

Yves Rosconi, CEO and President of Theratechnologies (TSX:TH), has informed the board of his decision to retire on Dec. 31, 2010, saying he deferred his decision until the company’s lead tesamorelin product was in the final stages of the FDA approval process.

A strategic committee of the board will immediately begin the formal search for a new president and CEO, seeking a candidate to pursue the company’s business plan and growth.  ”Yves’ passion and determination have made Theratechnologies a major player in the biotechnology sector in Canada,” chairman Paul Pommier said in a statement.

Separately, Amorfix Life Sciences (TSX:AMF) named Dr. Robert Gundel, formerly vice-president of R&D, to succeed Dr. George Adams, who has stepped down from those roles and as a director, after a strategic review and a decision to suspend development of its blood test for variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

“I personally recruited Dr. Gundel to lead the company’s therapeutic initiatives, and with his 25 years experience in drug development, particularly in the antibody space, with both Big Pharma and biotech companies, he is eminently prepared to spearhead the company during the next phase of its evolution,” Dr. Adams said in a statement.
