GeneNews names Auld as CFO

GeneNews (TSX:GEN) has appointed Leslie Auld as CFO and treasurer, succeeding Sonny Young, who will continue to work with the company in a consulting capacity.

Ms. Auld, who was retained by GeneNews as a financial consultant at the start of 2010, was most recently a consultant to Attwell Capital, formerly Fralex Therapeutics, and previously CFO of Attwell.  “Her track record and experience with rapidly evolving, emerging public issuers in the healthcare sector will be a great asset for GeneNews going forward,” interim CEO Dr. Heiner Dreismann said in a statement.

The board also elected Gailina Liew, president and COO of GeneNews, as a director. Dr. Wayne Marshall, Dr. Choong-Chin Liew and Fran Tuttle did not stand for re-election to the board. Dr. Marshall will continue to support certain clinical validation activities of the company and Dr. Liew will continue to lead its discovery research efforts.
